Can
I get the parts from you?
Unfortunately, not at this time. Please see Purchase
for the details on where to get parts and what the
part numbers are.
I don't
have any electronics experience, can I mod a pedal?
This DIY Modding Kit is made for you. You don't need
to know ANYTHING, except how to hold a pencil, how
a pair of pliers works, and how to play guitar-- once
your finished modding your pedal (and trust me, you'll
want to.) I've written this for the extreme beginner
who wants SERIOUS tone out of their pedals, but don't
want to pay the SERIOUS money it costs to get your
pedal modded by others.
How do
I know what to change?
Every circuit board (generally) has the numbers marked
next to a part. For example, c1. Simply find c1 on
the circuit board and change the value to what we
have it marked, or experiment with your own. What's
even easier, is we have pictures for all the circuit
boards on each pedal (with the exception of a very
few) with the locations and parts circled and labeled,
making it very EASY.
I just
want the mod sheets--do you provide those?
Unfortunately, no--not without the purchase of a diy
kit.
Do you
include schematics?
Schematics are for engineers! I've designed this to
be able to be done by the AVERAGE GUITARIST/BASSIST--not
just the ones that can read schematics.
For this same reason, I've custom designed each pedal
modification from schematics, and fine tuned each
one by a musician's ear--all 23 years experience worth!
I then put them into a format that ANYONE can read
and understand--No schematics are needed with these
diy kits. For Schematics, go to http://www.indyguitarist.com/schematics/
. If you purchase the hard copy book, schematics are
included with it.
Why don't
the pedal manufacturers just make the pedal great
to begin with?
The truth is, most guitarists also wonder why the
big companies put out such low-grade sounding effects...
After much research, here's what I found
out.
99.9% of the top companies design pedals
and mods by mathematics--yet its a proven fact that
the best pedals and mods are ones 'tweaked' by ear,
as mathematics alone simply does not always work the
best when it comes to something as subjective as full
bodied, jaw-dropping guitar tone.
Craig Anderton, who is legendary among
the DIY (do it yourself) effect building community
has often talked about this in many of his books and
articles.
I've modded pedals for quite a while
now, and even for BIG name professional guitarists...my
research and dedication to pedal modifications is
your advantage!

You must
supply:
You will need to have/purchase a few
basic items first in order to start correctly, but
keep in mind that all of these things are "one-time"
purchases and should last you a very long time. These
items listed below are the exact ones that I used
to get started and are all found at your local Radio
Shack, or you can buy them from Indyguitarist.com.
* First, I must assume that you have
access to or plan on purchasing: needle-nose pliers,
wire cutters, and a screwdriver (phillips #2 and #1)
* 30 Watt soldering iron (look for one with a grounded
tip, a good feature to have) $8
* 60/40 rosin core solder $1
* De-soldering braid $2
* black felt tip marker (sharpie's work great)
